Today is the Sunday of Epiphany, and the sermon today was about the wonder that the 3 Magi would even go looking for the baby Jesus, born King of the Jews, when they themselves were gentiles. Today nearly all Christians are gentiles, as in non-Jews, searching for Christ. It is a wonder that we still seek, and always persevere even when we go the wrong way sometimes.
I liked the service, and I loved this poem that was in the newsletter from our vicar:
The Gate of the Year (God Knows)
I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:’Give me a light that I might tread safely into the unknown.’And he replied:’Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God.That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.'(Minnie Louise Haskins)
